My last few days…

Posted by neko under Bars and Clubs, Clubbing in Osaka, General

Hi everybody,

i won’t talk about my lack of updates, no excuses.
In 3 days i will be back home in switzerland after almost 5months in japan. It’s feels good to know going back home but at the same time i don’t know anymore where my home is.
Since i moved to osaka 1 month ago i think i started to experience more of the “real” japan, travelling to the countryside, meeting tons and tons of japanese people and spending time with my lovely girlfriend kyoko.

I will miss everything, it’s really tough for me right now. That’s life and i will deal with it.

So, i promise to write about all my experiences the past few months once i’m back in switzerland and survived the probably coming little depression :)

cheers minna!

Week 2 and 3

Sorry everybody or the few persons who drop buy here from time to time but i’m not really into blogging mood.

I’ve shot a few low-quality pictures with my jp-keitai the last few weeks… so i’ll post them instead of writing a bunch of nonsense.

I’ve done the following stuff and more:

  • Visited the aquarium in shinagawa
  • Ate a lot of japanese and non japanese food
  • Went clubbing 2 times at club atom
  • Drank in shibuya, roppongi, shinjuku and other places
  • Drank an Iced almond caramel latte @excelsior caffee almost everyday
  • Met a lot of cool people
  • Let cute girls and cool guys sign my backpack
  • Learned a lot of japanese
  • Watched the biggest firework of tokyo
  • Took the shinkansen
  • Went to Shizuoka
  • Watched the new ghibli movie called “Ponyo”, all in japanese
  • Played pachinko, Tekken and other arcade games
  • Played darts and pool in shibuya
  • Slept a few hours in a mac donalds
  • Created a new group on facebook called “Shibuya backstreet Boys” :)
  • :)

Enjoy!

1st week done

Posted by neko under Bars and Clubs, Clubbing in tokyo, nihongo

yosh!
My first week at school and hostfamily is already over, tomorrow i start the 2nd week.
School is fine, we learned a few basic phrases in japanese and the first 20 hiragana.
We are around 15-20 ppl in our class, almost all of them are cool… almost :)

The cool and nice guys already found together so now we are a team of 5-7 mostly guys, hanging around after school together. It’s always fun! tanoshimi~ :)

Our Team-members:

Nas-kun ( igirisu-jin )
Patrick-kun ( suweeden-jin )
Sermet-kun ( doitsu-jin )
V-kun ( czeko-jin ) and also my hostfamily-buddy
Nick-kun ( amerika-jin ) the youngest… turned 18 yesterday
Rob-kun aka robocop ( amerika-jin )
and finally me :)

We went to karaoke in shibuya on friday… it was sooo fun! 2500yen per pers. for 2 hours karaoke with unlimited booze! :D hehe

Saturday we went to my friends bar in roppongi where another friend of me held a trance and rock party. Afterwards we checked out Club Atom, awesome place but too crowded on saturday.

That’s all for this week.
I’ll try to make photos the oncoming week.

Food, Party, Keitai and so on

Nice post title huh? :D

About the food: I love japanese food, there’s nothing i can do against it. Of course i don’t like everything but i found way too much kind of food i like here.
From today i will start a new food-serie. I’ll post everytime a photo of the restaurant from the outside and one or two pictures of the meal.

On the first picture it’s japanese curry with vegetables. Eaten at Curry House C&C next to the West Exit of Ikebukuro Station.
2nd picture: Kotsuteri (こつてり) ramen. Ate that 6.30am sunday morning. I have no idea about the name of the restaurant. It’s on the opposite side of the street from Bar Mania in Roppongi.

The last few days i was struggling getting a nihon keitai…
Softbank sells the best prepaid phones so far, that’s why i tried to get one of them. No luck for me and everyone else because softbank’s prepaid phones are sold out everywhere :(
Saturday i felt a bit down because i still wasn’t able to get a phone but neko never gives up and tried the store in omotesando. They have english speaking staff and all are very friendly.
Same story here “almost” :) : we’re sorry but it’s sold out, did he say to me. BUT you can get a prepaid usim-card and order the prepaid phone. We call you when your phone arrives at our store.

Oh and no need for an ARC ( Alien registration Card ) I showed them my passport, Confirmation Letter of the School and explained that i will extend my current “visa” from 90 days to 180 days.

If you would like to call me then please do so :) Here’s the number: +818033571275

I hope my keitai will arrive soon because with the prepaid usim-card i cannot send emails with my swiss phone, that’s the only bad thing…

and finally a few words about the parties:
Friday i wanted to go to Club Atom. Well i went there but couldn’t enter because i was wearing 3/4 pants…
Big turn-off. I took the train back to ikebukuro and stayed at the hotel drinking chu-hi. :D
Saturday i met with Yuki-chan in roppongi, Bar Mania.
bar-Mania is definitely my favorite bar in Roppongi. The Bar-staff and the boss are very cool and easy. The music is ok.
Yuki had to leave around 22:00h so i went to Club Flower. 1000Yen entrance fee with 2 drinks. I had already a nice party at club flower last year but this time it was boring. Only Hip-Hop and RnB at both floors… and 90% of the crowd: GUYS :(
So went back to Bar Mania and stayed the night there. Met a lot of nice people: Eddie Murphy (the real one i swear!), Watanabe-kun ( the japanese Silent Bob ), Chihiro ( sweet girl… i called her “aho” that means “stupid”. She had a funny looking strain of hair and i was thinking you call that “aho”… don’t ask me why.
Oh and there was Mister Rob! Polska Power :) It’s cool to meet someone who is also interested in photography. I think i could learn a lot from Rob, he has done some awesome photos.

Ok OVER and OUT.
More news soon.

Cigarette vending machines in japan

Posted by neko under Bars and Clubs, General

Hello minasan,
ohisashiburi ne!
Due to a lot of personal and work-related stuff i wasn’t able to write on my blog. Don’t worry, my blog is far from dead.

Today i want to write something about the new cigarettte vending machines in japan.
As of march 2008, all cigarette vending machines in the country will be replaced with new ones. The new machines have a new system to prevent underage smoking.
If you want to get tobacco from a vending machine you will need a IC-Card called “taspo”.

taspo card

The idea to prevent underage smoking with this card is something i totally agree with. It was way to easy for the kids in japan to get something to smoke. Now the problem that i see with that taspo-card is mainly about foreigners coming to japan for holidays, i’m speaking of non-residents.
You are required to fill a monstrous applying-form to get such a card. kuso- :)

vending machine

You can get the form and all other explanations about that taspo stuff on this website: Taspo official site

Anyone have a clue how to deal with those vending machines when you are non-resident and cannot get such a card?
One possibility is to apply for an ARC, if you stay longer than 90 days but i’m not sure if this will work 100%

Should you have an idea, please let me know :)

Osaka clubbing: Club Joule

Posted by neko under Bars and Clubs, Clubbing in Osaka, J-Trance

Club Joule

The joule (IPA: [dʒuːl] or [dʒaʊl]) (symbol: J) is the SI unit of energy.

The founder of this club couldn’t find any better name, club joule, energy energy energyyyyyyy~
If i had to describe this club with 1 word it would be ENERGY. nothing else!
We went to club joule on a thursday evening, around midnight. First we tried “Grand cafe Osaka”, pretty small club/bar, not soooo bad until they switched DJ and the they start some kind of “Shaft” Party. A bit too funky for my taste. That’s why we decided to try Club Joule. OMG why didn’t we thought earlier about going to Joule!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ceatec, Hana no mae, Karaoke and Pink Party

Yes! this is what i did on the 6th with my friends.

Our crew for this wonderful day:
Niko (of course)
Yusuke
Sayaka
Ashpi
and another friend of yusuke (gomen ne, i don’t remember his name)

So our day started with Ceatec @Makuhari-Messe. 45min train ride away from Ueno station :)
Ceatec was nice, nothing special but nice. We got a lot of both babe photos. Muahahaha.
Ceatec was divided into 3 Halls. The first was all about Screens, Tv’s and some Mobile phones.
2nd hall only mobile phone stuff, hard and software. Finally the 3rd hall as about micro-chips, semi-conductors and stuff like that, pretty boring.

Ceatec over, we move back to tokyo city -> Shinjuku for some sightseeing. Sayaka, our tokyo expert, brought us along to the Tokyo Government building where we were able to go to the 45th floor for some nice city viewing by night. The view from there was wonderful.

Suddenly we got hungry, after walking around for a while we decided to go to an izakaya, with a private room. That was a fantastic idea! :D You can enjoy dinner and drinking with your friends without beeing bothered by other customers. The izakaya we went to is called “Hana no mae” -> Dancing flower. Prices are ok and you can order a lot of different food so there is something for everyone. I ate whale for the first time!!!!!!!!! oishi neeeeeeeeee.

About 3 hours later, we decided to go to a karaoke :) :) We sang stuff like “Thunderstruck”, “DJ Ozma”, “Koda Kumi - Cutie Honey”, ” Dragonball Theme song” and so on, pretty funny. 1h flew away and it was time o move over to Azabu Juban for “Pinku party” :)

For more infos about the pink party held at club “Warehouse” go to Cyberjapan.
The pictures of those events will come soon, the prob is my notebook is slow and it takes a lot of time to resize and upload them… maybe tomorrow i’ll have some more time left since we have no planned things so far.

Kyoto: Party on sunday?

Posted by neko under Bars and Clubs, Clubbing in Kyoto, J-Girls

2nd paati in kyoto, damn it was already the 3rd party, S&D again.
So i was hoping to have the usual mix of 2nd floor “Hip-Hop/RnB” and downstairs “All styles”…
Urusai!!!!!!!!! not on a sunday, it was a party called Sound Massacre “Hip-Hop” only.

I didn’t expect a very different crowd than usual, i was very wrong.
Sam and Dave is a bit a gaijin “club” but as i could see on sunday it turns to be an almost 98% JP guys/girls club.  All “wannabe”  jp-gangstas / chikas and  other things gather all together for Sound Massacre :)

Other crowd other style of party…

Jp-gangstas tried to get the girls away as soon as they saw a “gaijin” was dancing/flirting with tem. BIGLOL
Anyway, niko and me had fun and went back to the ryokan at 7am after eating some of the most delicious pork-ramen ever made by mankind!!!!!!!! oishii neeeeee~ yaaaaaaay~

at last, some photos of the Sound Masacre Party, enjoy.

S&D Logoneko with 2 sweet girlsniko, neko and a giirrrlll
